Refugee Ministries

Participation in the refugee ministries of the United Methodist Church can take several different paths:

  • Monetary support to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) through the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering and to Global Refugee Response (Advance # 982540-1)
  • Be a legislative advocate by calling and writing letters to federal legislators on issues that effect refugees and encourage lawmakers to create just policies toward immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers.
  • Sponsor a refugee through UMCOR.  Sponsors are in great demand.  Choosing a path of involvement means you help a refugee family settle in your community and help them to become outstanding US citizens.  This can be done by individual congregations or clusters of congregations.
